Artist Statement

Albert Einstein suggested that the tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives. To prevent these kinds of soul sacrifices, I started to paint. The whole idea of painting abstract images gives my imagination freedom to roam. I apply a generous amount of paint with brushes that I purchase at the paint store and work in layers adding depth and texture. Textures actually interest me very much and are a big part of my paintings. Some of my canvases have been around for years, getting more and more paint applied, until the perfect picture emerges. I incorporate geometric shapes and lines which create both balance and tension within a painting. Often I use charcoal and pastels as drawing elements.
