Artist statement

Mass media exists all around you in various forms like Television, radio, newspaper, Internet, etc. It has a huge influence on the public who do not even realize it. According to Aldous Huxley, there is an impersonal force that the public is controlled by, which the ruling elite manipulates the population using various methods in media. Mass media is used as a tool to control the masses. The continuous stimulations paralyze rational thought and function of critical thinking.

My playmobils represent publics who are controlled by unseen forces. They all have different appearances according to their role and jobs, and they think themselves as independent beings. However, even those clothes and accessaries are decided by someone and are unifying little by little. The reality that we believe is actually not an objective reality, it is also man-made according to interests(stakes) of power structures. It is dominant sense of realism that seems real, specious reality. All things are controlled and raised by media. It looks like playful and delightful, but All is not as it seems.
