About

I was born in Orel (Russia) in 1949 and was educated in art and restoration of oil paintings. I was head of the National Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Komi for three years. In 1991 I moved to Hungary and in 1994 began to work with enamel. Below you can see my art resume:

Artist statement

On my page you see my artwork of the past ten years. Techniquewise working with enamel i follow two directions.

My own technique – the base of the composition is figures cut out of copper and secured onto enameled wood.

The other technique is closer to painting. The copper or steel base is burnt, then I convey the exact pattern of the prepared composition. The enamel goes on layer after layer all of which are burnt separately on 800-850 degrees. Compositionwise all of them are made as table work.

A theme I’d worked on for several years is the Tree of life, based on archeological findings from the 7th century – this is what’s called the Permi-animal style (ancient Finno-ugrian mythology).

In the past couple of years I’ve been preoccupied by the theme „Two-faced reality”. As the contrast of lightness and darkness, chiaroscuro or cold and warm is a part of the world’s entirety, there is just as much good and bad in the human soul.

The rest of the pieces work around the „Reality of many faces”, because our reality is rather diverse and versatile.
