Dream Sea

This picture either was inspired by the lines in the poem by Mallarme’s Le Cimetière Marin” (the cemetery by the sea) or possibly inspired me to immediately think of those lines while I was creating it. The line in the poem is “La mer, La mer, toujours recommencée,” which I decided to write over and over again around the picture as a kind of frame. The line means “The sea, the sea, always begins again.”
