Highlights of 2014

Dear artists, patrons, supporters and friends:

Thank you for your enthusiasm, love for the arts, creative talents and hard work. Combined together, they produced a wonderful year, during which we successfully mounted more than ten group and solo art shows in seven different venues that were curated, among others, by the renowned Los Angeles art critic Peter Frank.

Simultaneously, the number of artists represented by the Gallery has approached a milestone number of 100. Our represented artists continued to enjoy various privileges, from discount participation in competitions and priority participation in our shows to patrons’ studio visits. They also receive individual and group guidance on how to better promote their art and increase their visibility in art world.

And our visibility is indeed growing. In 2014, our shows and artists were constantly covered in the Art-to-Art Palette Journal. For two weeks in spring, the works of 24 of our represented artists were displayed on the billboard at 9039 Sunset Blvd. The show ‘City Planes’ became a subject of both an interview on Premier Russian Radio and an article in the weekly newspaper Panorama. LarkGallery was also featured on West Hollywood TV News. The show "Find Your Roots" which was co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood was named the Editor’s Choice of The Fifth Avenue Times publication. The Mayor of West Hollywood Abbe Land attended the show’s opening reception and personally awarded the certificates of excellence to the winners and honorary mentions of this competition.

The gallery did its own share of charity by supporting the Dreaming Zebra Foundation with 5% of the entry fees to every competition. We conducted workshops at school for children, helping them to connect with their cultural roots and become more environmentally conscious by developing recycling habits. As part of a special event, we also raised money for Holocaust survivors in Eastern Europe.

This year, LarkGallery team has also grown to include the new Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Laura Guerrero. Laura brought with her a decade of experience at Sotheby's prestigious Fine Art Auction House and a connection to a bigger audience of art lovers. We also have the new Communications Director, Natalie Fet, who sees her goal in the development of new strategies to respond to our patrons’ desire to directly engage with the actively working artists. She helped us enliven such traditional form of interaction between artists and art patrons as the gallery opening by introducing art critiques at the opening receptions. By and large, reflecting a growing circle of patrons, LarkGallery continued to enhance interaction between art, artists and audiences through exclusive studio visits, panel discussions with art professionals and private exhibition tours.

The next year is promising to be even more exciting. For the first time, in partnership with Academia Luciana, LarkGallery is offering a two-week summer retreat for the artists in Civitella, Italy. Last year, we started our relationship with the experimental theater company Schkapf. They’ve just informed us that our next mutual project named “Art takes Stage” is scheduled to be on display in the middle of January. As of now, we invite our represented artists to upload their work they they’d like to offer for the project to Portal VI, which is open for submissions. We are also happy to announce that Phantom Galleries LA, with which we successfully cooperated in 2010 -2011, is back, and we are discussing possible future co-productions. We also plan to continue our partnership with M.D. Art Gallery – new exhibitions are in the works!
