Interview with Artist: Jenni Souter

Why do you do what you do?

I cannot stop. I always am busy creating. I love it. It’s just what I do.

What’s is your background?

A fine art degree along with 25.4 years in schools learning new things

What art do you most identify with?

Symbolic Colorful Emotional works from Frida Kahlo
Natural works from Georgia Okeeffe.

What work do you most enjoying doing?

Pebeo Oils

What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

Well I always am reminded of the safe warm soothing memories of sitting in the sun listening to 80s music. I go back to that happy place every time I hear one of those songs.

Can you describe a real-life situation that inspired you?

My relationships with others that give me an emotional charge is one thing that inspires me.

Why art?

I was noticed in art class . So it just made sense to do what you do best.It is just who I am.

What is artistic outlook on life?

God knows everything happens for a reason. I am now on this artistic journey to create more art and put them everywhere.I believe God wants everyone to give back to community so I instill self esteem in children art class.

What makes you angry?

Lying & Cheating

What is your dream project?

In Detroit, I have been fortunate enough to get ready to create a mural school children look at during the day on 6th Street.

What is your favorite or the most inspiration place in the world?

Anywhere there is water(pool, beach, ocean, lake) I reenergize.

What is your goal?

To become a self sustaining artist that will provide enough profit from art so my children do not ever have to worry about money.
